FOUNDER + ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Tiffany Forsythe, a Virginia native, began her dance journey at age six at Lakewood Dance & Music Center and trained extensively through programs such as the Governor’s School for the Arts, In The Spotlight School of Dance, and Norfolk Academy under Alvin Ailey alumnus Elbert Watson. She earned scholarships to prestigious summer intensives, including the South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory and the Virginia Beach Ballet Academy.

Her professional path has included performances with Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and notable Central Florida dance companies such as Moore Dance Project, Dawn Branch Works, and Emergence Dance Company. Tiffany’s work has been featured in the iDance Orlando Festival, FusionFest, Orlando Fringe, and productions across New York and Florida.

Throughout her career, Tiffany often found herself as one of the few and sometimes the only dancer of color in  professional settings. Recognizing the lack of representation and the absence of a predominantly Black dance company in Central Florida, she founded Onyx Movement to fill that gap.

Today, Tiffany continues to perform, teach, choreograph, and mentor while shaping Onyx Movement into a professional platform that celebrates artistry, empowers dancers, and amplifies Black excellence in dance.

Onyx Movement provides equal opportunity for all dancers, artists, and community members regardless of race, color, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, national origin, or socioeconomic background. We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
